The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the much-awaited results for Civil Services Exam 2023 on April 16.
The top rank for the prestigious exam was secured by Aditya Srivastava, while Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy secured the second and third ranks respectively, UPSC said.
According to UPSC, a total of 1,016 candidates passed the examination and have been recommended for different central government services.
A total of 347 candidates from the general category cleared the exam, while from the economically weaker sections (EWS) 115 aspirants were recommended. Moreover, 303 applicants from the other backward classes (OBC) passed the exam, while 165 and 86 applicants from the scheduled castes (SCs) and scheduled tribes (STs) respectively managed to secure their names in the prestigious list, according to UPSC.
The Civil Services Exam is conducted annually in three stages - preliminary, main and interview - by the UPSC to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others. The prelims was held on May 28, while the mains was held on September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24 of last year.
This year 200 applicants opted for IPS, 187 for IAS, and 37 chose to go for IFS, the commission said.
The past three years have seen women secure the top ranks. Ishita Kishore got the top rank, while Garima Lohia and Uma Harathi N completed the top 3.
2021 also saw women dominate the top ranks with Shruti Sharma, Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla securing the top three ranks.
In recent years, the overall passing percentage of women has recorded a surge. While it was 24 percent in 2018 and 2019, in 2020 it went up to 29 percent before slipping to 26 percent in 2021. In 2022, it surged to 34 percent.

-Find the notification that says ‘Civil Service Examinations 2023 Final Results’
-Click on the UPSC result link and a PDF will open, which will have the details of all the qualified candidates
-You can check if you have qualified with your name, roll number.
-Take a print out of the list or download it.

Soon after the results were declared, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the aspirants. "I congratulate all those who have successfully cleared the Civil Services Examination, 2023. Their hard work, perseverance and dedication have paid off, marking the start of a promising career in public service. Their efforts will shape the future of our nation in the times to come. My best wishes to them," he said on X.
